Luke Cornish scored twice as Fareham beat Exeter-based Isca 3-2 to put their first England Hockey Western Conference win points on the board.
A second goal by Martin Gough gave Fareham a 2-0 cushion just before half-time, but a series of fine saves by Isca goalkeeper Ed Jones denied the Hampshire hosts a more comfortable win. Cornish made it 3-2 early in the second half, while Isca clawed back a late second goal. A Birmingham University penalty corner equaliser two minutes from time prevented newly promoted Havant from beating the Midlands students. Havant trailed 3-1 at one stage, but led 4-3 going into the closing stages when Birmingham grabbed a 4-4 draw. Comprehensive reports on these National League matches will appear here on Monday lunchtime.
