Ben Hibberd has to wait until mid-January before he can play competitive hockey again for Winchester in South League Premier Division 1. His red card sending off in Winchester’s 4-4 draw with Oxford University last month culminated in a 60-day ban for the player/coach. Hibberd has missed Winchester’s last two matches and will be sidelined for another three before being eligible to play against Milton Keynes on January 13, when the competition resumes after its Christmas break. Mark Maunsell, red carded in the same match at Iffley Road, will complete his 23-day ban after Saturday’s game with Oxford Hawks at Kings’, while young goalkeeper Caelan Dillon has served his suspension and is free to return.
