They inflicted capital punishment on Cardiff’s two student teams in their last two games, following up a 5-0 beating of the university by thrashing Cardiff & Met 7-0, condemning both Welsh sides to relegation in the process. They had previously beaten Chichester 6-1 and drawn 2-2 with Isca. Fareham had been hovering precariously on the lip of the relegation zone themselves before their late spurt – manager Malcolm Davies believing the finish has given his young side the momentum to set up an exciting 2023/24 season. “I am so proud of the lads because, when needed, they delivered and all stepped up to make it comfortable in the end. We scored plenty of goals and, significantly, kept consecutive clean sheets in the last two games,” he said. Chris Davey and Kieran Page each scored twice against Cardiff & Met, with James Seager, James Morris and teenage debutant Alex Barrett getting one each. Fareham's championship winning ladies side ended the season on a triumphant note with a 4-2 win at Oxford, the only side to beat them this season. It looked as though a repeat might be on the cards when Oxford took the lead, but Fareham had nosed 2-1 in front by half-time through Sarah Johns and Sian Edwards Alacia Caillard scored a third soon after the break, but Oxford clawed a second goal back before Aimee Timms wrapped it up.
