2/6/2018 0 Comments Two-goal Lukas beats the DrummSouthampton gave their Hampshire/Surrey Regional Division 2 survival hopes a massive boost with a 4-1 win over Camberley & Farnborough at the Sports Centre.
Two late goals by Lukas Drumm and Will Thompson sealed the win for Southampton, who are now only three points behind fellow local strugglers Romsey at the bottom. To Southampton’s benefit, Romsey lost 3-1 at Winchester seconds. Reflecting on Southampton’s only third win of the season, under pressure coach Jon Price said: “It was a very strong performance from the boys, dominating possession and play through the whole game.” Southampton’s start was near enough perfect with Drumm scoring inside three minutes – a lead Matt Tricker doubled from a penalty corner. Camberley replied equalised on the hour mark, but open play goals by Drumm and Thompson earned Southampton their just rewards. “The first half of the season was a big learning curve, but now there’s lots of belief that points can be picked up that will see us safe come the end of the season,” Price added.
